Coming up with designs for art exhibitions is tricky because the artwork often overwhelms the rest of the composition. That’s why the design has to find just the right amount of strong and eye-catching elements, be they colours, fonts or layouts.
Atelier Home Gallery
Atelier Home Gallery (AHG) is a peculiar art gallery in the center of Trieste, Italy. Since its beginning, AHG wasn’t ok with being just a gallery and began hosting events ranging from its famous “art parties” to indie concerts and cooking classes. Here is where a graphic designer like me has more freedom.
DEL FRATE
Painter, published writer and composer Roberto del Frate is one of the founders of AHG gallery. In late 2016 he decided to experiment outside his usual style and his brand had to reinvent itself. His minimalist logo reflects the more modern art he is leaning towards.
ADM is a series of art classes that focus on the human side of artists throughout history.
The courses
Roberto del Frate wanted to teach about art and not just show it. This is how his series of lessons “Atelier dei Maestri” was born.
In recent years Del Frate has begun to experiment by drawing and painting aliens and monster-like creatures. For the business card dedicated just to this line, I came up with a seamless pattern by taking one of his drawings. The simplicity of the typography is meant to contrast with the complexity and color of the artwork.
